"Honorable Mention Award" from the Finnish Dental Congress for the surgical guide CEREC Guide 2
On the occasion of the 2017 Finnish Dental Congress, in cooperation with Apollonia, the Finnish Dental Society, three Innovation awards were presented to particularly innovative products for the third time. Dentsply Sirona was awarded with the "Honorable Mention Award" for CEREC Guide 2. This surgical guide can be produced chairside using the CEREC Software and based on a digital impression and a 3D X-ray image.
The production of a surgical guide simply, quickly and cost-effectively – this is possible with CEREC Guide 2. Several studies have already confirmed that with this guide, greater implantology precision can be achieved than with free-hand insertion. This has been demonstrated most recently by Dr. Katariina and Dr. Marko Ahonen from Finland who were presented with a poster prize in the category "Clinical Safety" for their study "Accuracy of cost efficient chairside teeth supported implant guide: CEREC Guide 2" at the Dentsply Sirona World Summit Tour in Nice.
With this "Honorable Mention Award", the jury of the Finnish Dental Congress paid tribute to the product properties of CEREC Guide 2's. According to the jury, this surgical guide serves to improve digital implantation without models and boasts a higher degree of precision than conventional methods. This, in turn, improves patient safety and the quality of the restoration. As such, CEREC Guide 2 more than satisfies the award criteria.
"We are delighted with this award," enthused Dr. Frank Thiel, Group Vice President CAD/CAM at Dentsply Sirona. "We see this as confirmation of our concept of offering complete intelligent solutions from diagnosis through planning and the final restoration for the patient. The surgical guide not only supports the surgical intervention itself but also the precise implementation of the planned prosthetic situation."
Enhancing the digital implantology workflow
CEREC Guide 2 serves as part of the integrated implantology workflow from Dentsply Sirona.: The soft tissue information and the pre-planned prosthetics are provided as a digital data set by CEREC. This data is merged with a 3D X-ray volume produced by the Dentsply Sirona CBCT devices into a single data record. The implant is subsequently planned using implant planning software (Galileos Implant). The results of this planning stage are then returned back to CEREC. The surgical guide design can then be adapted to the specific needs of the case in question and milled from a PMMA CEREC Guide Bloc on a CEREC or inLab milling unit. It couldn't be more convenient: It is not necessary to create a model or a radiographic guide with reference bodies. CEREC Guide 2 can be designed with the CEREC and CEREC Premium software as of version 4.4 and with the inLab software as of version 15.0.
