Lack of keratinized tissue around the implant is associated with poor plaque control of the patients, and causes a change in gingival index and probing depth, and an increased risk of developing peri-implant mucositis, and the importance of keratinized tissue around the implant cannot be ignored. An apically positioned split'flap with the application of autogenous tissue is the gold standard to augment the keratinized tissue, while this technique also has some limitations. Our study aim to evaluate the efficacy of an apically repositioned flap with a xenogeneic collagen matrix or free gingival graft for gain of keratinized tissue around implant. We believe the substitute material maybe the future trend.
